'Hastey Hastey' is Directed by Toony Ramanjit Juneja. The director has come out with a subject that could have been developed very well but then the narration of the plot was poor despite some good presentation. With this movie you realize that the director's intentions may be sincere, to make a full on entertainer, and comedy.
A lifeless comedy, the story begins on the backdrop of the US where Neel (Jimmy Shergill) is a student at the Columbia University and he has his pretty girlfriend Maya (Nisha Rawal) along with his roommate and best buddy Sunny (Rajpal Yadav). Things take a turn when Neel gets an offer to start his career by setting up a call centre in India. While Neel is looking forward to it, Maya is reluctant to let him go and despite her several pleas Neel decides to go to India and he is accompanied by Sunny in his trip.
Here he comes across Tanvi (Monishka) who is supposed to be the Indian contact for him to assist him in setting up of the entire project. Tanvi is a proactive and dynamic girl and goes out of her way to ensure Neel gets what he wants, what he does not realize is Tanvi is actually in love with him and that is what is making her do all these things. The showdown happens and Neel turns her proposal down giving her the truth. As expected, Tanvi is unable to digest it and takes it upon her to make his life a living hell. How does Neel manage to come out of all this forms And what happens hereafter is to be seen on the screen.
Performances:
'Hastey Hastey' belongs to Jimmy sheirgill, Rajpal Yadav, Nisha Rawal, Monishka Gupta. The music was good and the camerawork was brilliant but then the film lost out on the spine such as the script which was amateur and the screenplay which lacked the depth and flavour. No one knows what happened to the editing desk when the movie was made and other departments need no mention here. Jimmy came up with his regular performance but then his role was limited so not much could be expected from him. Both Nisha and Monishka were apt as glam dolls and provided enough cleavage show but when it comes to acting, they still need to polish their skills. Javed Sheikh and Shakti Kapoor have been totally wasted while Manoj Joshi was underutilized. The film belongs to Rajpal Yadav in his triple role who came out with a stunning performance and whatever little credit the movie gets it is because of him. The rest of the cast were just about okay and did not have much to deliver.
