'Insan' has just hit the theatres. Though his latest movie 'Insan' has not actually fetched rave reviews, Tusshar says he enjoyed playing wannabe actor Avinash. "He was so typical of wannabes we see on the streets of Mumbai. So over the top! All his gestures were so exaggerated! I did the role because I enjoy doing comedy. Also I had never played this kind of character before,".

How was the experience performing on stage for the first time at the Bollywood Awards night?
Great! Since it was for the first time that I was performing on stage, I was slightly nervous. But thankfully things went smoothly. I performed a medley on my father's songs. My father was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award hence the performance. Few know that that the same day also happened to be my birthday. And boy, it turned out to be the most rocking night of my life.

Insan has just released. So what other films are you looking forward too?
Currently I'm excited about my sister Ekta's Kya Cool Hain Hum. The film is a laugh-riot. My friends think that I'm serial killer though I'm not. This leads to funny situations in the film. This is for the first time that I have attempted to do a full-fledged comedy film. There are other film offers too. Talks are on. But I don't want to talk about them till I actually sign them.

What kind of roles would you like to do? Have you been approached for the roles of your choice?
I would love to play the character Tom Hanks played in Dead Calm. So path breaking!

Would you be open to playing the character he did in Philadelphia?
Of course! Provided the director is good. There's another film I had seen recently called Monster. It is about prostitute who is a serial killer. Such roles need to be handled by a good director otherwise they would look very caricature-ish in Hindi films. The film should not be sleazy or cheap. There are very few directors who can handle such subjects like Shyam Benegal, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Because once you mess up with a role of such magnitude, no one comes back to you and your reputation as an actor can get killed.

Don't these limitations frustrate you as an actor?
Directors are now opening up to concepts never tried before. New directors are getting opportunities. New avenues are opening up. People are commercializing their films so that they can reach out everybody and get creative satisfaction as well. The change is slow and that does frustrate one. But it is happening gradually. Also the star system is fading. Stars won't be paid huge amounts anymore because the makers know they don't deserve it. Everything is going to get so systematic. People are going to get paid for their merit. Films are going to get into a corporate mode. And that is happening!

Okay what aspect of filmmaking do you enjoy the most?
If I give up acting, I will get into production. I enjoy production. But I can't imagine myself as a director. I can't see myself visualizing scenes, writing dialogues and scripts. That is just not
